Salaried Judge roles in the First-tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber) and Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery) - Application Seminar

The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) will be launching a selection exercise in Spring 2023. This exercise will aim to recruit 4 salaried Judges of the First-tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber) and 2 salaried Judges of the Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery Chamber). 

 

The seminar 

Are you interested in applying for appointment as a salaried tax judge? If so, join us for an online seminar via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 29 March 2023 from 5pm – 6pm. 

The seminar aims to help individuals prepare their applications and offers up-to-date guidance and advice on the Judicial Appointment Commission (JAC)’s selection process.

 

You will hear from Judge Greg Sinfield, President of the First-tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber), Mrs Justice Bacon, President of the Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery), together with salaried judges from those tribunals (Judge Kim Sukul and Upper Tribunal Judge Swami Raghavan) as well as a representative from the JAC. 

 

This seminar is organised on behalf of the Judicial Diversity Committee to assist implementation of the Judicial Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.   

 

Who should attend? 

For the First-tier Tribunal roles, candidates with a background in tax and a minimum of 5 years legal experience post-qualification. For the Upper Tribunal roles, candidates with a background in tax and/or financial services with a minimum of 7 years legal experience post-qualification. Full eligibility requirements will be published once confirmed.
