  <p>The <a href="https://www.judiciary.uk/about-th
 e-judiciary/training-support/judicial-office/">Jud
 icial Office</a> is organising a pre-application s
 eminar that will take place online via Microsoft T
 eams on <strong>Wednesday 20th May 2026 (5.30-6.30
 pm)</strong>.</p>\n \n <p>The seminar aims to help
  applicants be better prepared to make an applicat
 ion and to receive up-to-date guidance and advice 
 on the JAC’s selection process. As well as the JAC
 \, you will also hear from the Chamber President\,
  Mr Justice Nicholas Thompsell and two serving dep
 uty judges. </p>\n \n <p><u><strong>Who should att
 end?</strong></u></p>\n \n <p>Applications are inv
 ited from candidates with at least 7 years’ post q
 ualification legal experience and at least 4 years
 ’ experience in either tax or financial services. 
 Applications are particularly welcome from under-r
 epresented groups (women\, ethnic minority candida
 tes\, disabled candidates).</p>\n \n <p>The Tax an
 d Chancery Chamber of the Upper Tribunal exercises
  appellate and judicial review functions in relati
 on to tax matters. The majority of this work is in
  deciding appeals on points of law from the First-
 tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber). It also deals with se
 veral first instance jurisdictions\, principally f
 inancial services regulation\, where it hears refe
 rences against decisions of the Financial Conduct 
 Authority and the Pensions Regulator.</p>\n \n <p>
