Deputy Insolvency and Companies Court Judges: (in-person) Pre-Application Seminar and Drinks Reception 2026

The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) will be launching a selection exercise in September to appoint 13 Deputy Insolvency and Companies Court Judges to the Business and Property Courts.

The Seminar

The Judicial Office is organising an in-person pre-application seminar that will take place in the Rolls Building on Tuesday 15th September from 5pm. Following the pre-application seminar, delegates are welcome to stay for a drinks reception from 6-7pm. Please note that full location details will be provided 24 hours before the event.

The seminar aims to help applicants be better prepared to make an application and to receive up-to-date guidance and advice on the JAC’s selection process. As well as the JAC, you will also hear from the Chancellor of the High Court and a salaried Insolvency and Companies Court Judge on what the role entails on a day-to-day basis.

Who should attend?

Judicial office holders and legal practitioners, including solicitors and barristers, with at least five years' post-qualification experience are welcome to attend. Please note that members of CILEX are not eligible to apply for this role.

It is essential that candidates have relevant practice or academic experience in insolvency and company law, as this is a specialist area of law.
