Appointment of High Court Judges: Bright KC & Richards
The King is pleased to approve the appointment of two Justices of the High Court. These appointments will take effect from 11 January 2023. It is anticipated that further appointments will be announced.
The candidates approved as High Court Judges are Robert Bright KC and Jonathan Richards.
These appointments will fill vacancies in the High Court following elevations to the Court of Appeal and confirmed retirements. Robert Bright KC
Robert Bright KC will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Bright. He was Called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1987 and took Silk in 2006. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2018.
He will take up appointment on 11 January 2023.
The Lord Chief Justice will assign Robert Bright KC to the King’s Bench Division.
Jonathan Richards
Jonathan Richards will be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Richards. He was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1997. He was appointed as a Judge of the Upper Tribunal, Tax and Chancery Chamber in 2018 and as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2020, assigned to the Chancery Division.
He will take up appointment on 11 January 2023.
The Lord Chief Justice will assign Jonathan Richards to the Chancery Division.
