District Judge Appointment: Derbyshire

The King has appointed Hugh Edward Hartley Derbyshire to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the former Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon. 

The former Lord Chief Justice deployed him to the Northern Circuit, based at Carlisle Combined Court, with effect from 13 November 2023.

Background Information

Hugh Edward Hartley Derbyshire will be known as District Judge Derbyshire. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 2004. In 2020, he was appointed as a Deputy District Judge and a Fee-Paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Social Entitlement Chamber.
