District Judge Appointment: Wales

The Queen has appointed Matthew James Wales to be a District Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Western Circuit, based at Bristol Civil and Family Justice Centre with effect from 1 November 2021.

Background Information

Matthew James Wales, aged 51, will be known as District Judge Wales. He was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1993. He was appointed as a Deputy District Judge in 2010.
