District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Appointment: Apted
The King has appointed Stephen Apted to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Western Circuit, based at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court with effect from 9 January 2023.
Background Information
Stephen Apted will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Apted. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1995. He was appointed as a Fee-Paid Employment Judge and as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2020.
