District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Appointment: Gould

The Queen has appointed James Gould to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.

The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the North Eastern Circuit, based at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court with effect from 2 November 2021.

Background Information

James Gould, aged 47, will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Gould. He was called to the Bar in 1997. He was appointed as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2019 and as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2019.
