District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Appointment: Mehta
The Queen has appointed Amar Mehta to be a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Dominic Raab MP and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Right Honourable The Lord Burnett of Maldon.
The Lord Chief Justice has deployed him to the Midland Circuit, based at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court with effect from 1 November 2021.
Background Information
Amar Mehta, aged 44, will be known as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) Mehta. He was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1999 and admitted to the Roll in 2003. He was appointed as a Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber, in 2020.
