The Honourable Sir Roderick Brian Newton retires as a Judge of the High Court (Family Division) with effect from 1 October 2023.
Background information
Sir Roderick Newton was called to the Bar (Middle Temple) in 1982. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder in 1998, a Recorder in 2000 and authorised to sit as a High Court Judge in 2008. He was the Designated Family Judge for Essex from 2008 to 2014, Cambridge and Peterborough from 2010 to 2013 and Suffolk from 2013 to 2014. He was a Family Course Tutor at the Judicial College from 2010 to 2018, appointed a High Court Judge (Family Division) in 2014 and was the Family Division Liaison Judge for East Anglia from 2016 to 2023.
