Students

Unfortunately, we only offer the Judicial Work Shadowing Scheme for qualified legal practitioners with 3 years Post Qualification Experience. Unfortunately, this means the scheme is not open to students or those who have not yet qualified as a lawyer.

If you are interested in gaining insight into the legal profession more broadly, you may wish to explore opportunities through law firms, legal charities, or court observation, which can often provide valuable experience for students.

There may be marshalling opportunities in your area. In order for you to marshal you will need to contact your local courts and tribunals directly to find out more information. Opportunities to undertake marshalling vary from region to region but most courts and tribunals will offer it.

If you are over 18 you may also want to consider volunteering to become a magistrate to gain courtroom experience and also benefit your community. You can find more information at https://magistrates.judiciary.uk/
